OKI 711WT A4

Purchased from The Magic Touch. They all sell them for the same price (£1995 plus VAT) but with TMT you get a few boxes of paper which is worth a few quid extra. If you go for this system then by all means call around and then see who you feel comfortable with. Also search this forum for customer service and technical support feedback. I have been in the business years but I still need to call on support every now and then and it is good to know I have that back up.

Ideally if you can, visit their showroom for you to see the process in action. Not only is it about the machine and the quality of the paper, but also what the finished article looks and feels like, and how long it will last. Take a few of your files (check how they want them) and get samples made with real files. It also means they spunk their paper and not yours

One big bonus with TMT is their proprietary software called Space Control written in house by the technical guru called Alan. This manages the toner use which is quite important when a white toner costs £260 plus VAT.

I know I sound like an advert for TMT here but it is not the case and I am only being fair.

When I fist looked at white laser printers TMT did not even have theirs on the market. The one I was looking at was from Y.E.S. and I was quoted £5k for an A4. TMT started selling exactly the same machine for 2k, YES telephoned to say that they had a "deal" on for the 5k one which was now only 2k. Needless to say I do not like that sort of company. I also rang Xpres and was told someone would call me back, no one did.

Both Logobear and I (and others) rave about TMT because they deserve it. In much the same way Listawoods, BMS and Longforte do (plus others I have probably forgotten). But none of the others sell the white system and are more dye sublimation specialists.

I will point out that as far as materials go, TMT are not the cheapest. Some of their papers may be as much as 5-10p more per sheet. But if you are needing to save 5p on a garment print then I suggest your pricing is wrong . The support service is up their with the best and as a newbie you are going to need that support.

I have said on this forum many times that I get sick of newbie's banging on about a system they have purchased off ebay which doesn't work (and more often expect someone on here to fix it via email), then there are other newbie's on here that have taken the advice given by many on here to purchase from a reputable and good supplier, they do and the system works and as a newbie their learning on here is about new products and new techniques, not "how to clean a blocked nozzle"

Sorry the above is a bit of a jumbled rambling but hopefully you get the main points.

P.S. I also have a Versacamm configured for white and metallic but this is not for garments (although it used to do them). I immediately switched to the OKI as soon as I got it (and a good quality heat press which is essential to the OKI system).

As good as the OKI system is, I do feel let down by TMT on the WOW paper price, I bought this system based on a promise of the paper coming down to £1 a sheet by now, this hasn't happened and from what I've heard, isn't going to be happening.

That said, TMT are far and away the experts when it comes to laser transfer technology and personally I wouldn't look at anybody else for this this kind of system.

That's a good point Jason and I would be really peeved if that was me. Have you spoken to anyone there about this, I know I would be demanding the sales rep explain themselves.

WOW (not the paper !) 2 x brilliant replies guys ! To be honest, I did initially look at the OKI WT printer, but so many forum members elsewhere have declared categorically that white on dark is not a possibility. Even had a so-called expert from one of the American forums basically laugh in my face ! As stated on previous pages, I am in no immediate hurry, and hopefully the finances will be in place once I decide to take the plunge. After Sales back-up is a real biggie for me, and TMT sound interesting. I have messaged a few other companies with my queries, & ok I know I'm not the only potential buyer out there, but I do lose interest if I don't get the courtesy of at least a short reply. Socialgiraffe, I'd love to hear more about your setup :) and Jason, give me more please :) A big thanx to both of you.

I've not spoken to them about this yet since its only recently come to light, I suspect I won't be the only person raising this point though, especially as they were really pushing this point at all 3 of the Trade-shows I spoke to them at prior to purchasing the system.
