Re: Exact Print - Target Transfers

Post by socialgiraffe »

Hi Guys

Anyone on here used Exact Print from Target Transfers on an OKI that is not on their list of recommended printers?

Spoke to Target and they have said their list of printers are ones that HAVE worked. They tried others and said that those printers do not work at all. I asked if they had the list of definate no no printers and needless to say they will not give it.

I am running a 301DN so if anyone is using it on that printer let me know.

Is this the same stuff? If yes, 55 seconds in and it's an OKI.

That's the stuff.

They just do not recommend the 301, but looking at the inside of that one and the 711 I do not see much difference.

Haven't ventured into the OKI market "yet", so don't know much about them. Waiting for their A3 version that works on the white toner option.

This looks very good! Have stayed away from Target for a while since I bought a load of Premium + vinyl from them which was a nightmare to cut on my craft robo. Im currently using TTC from Magictouch but will have to look into this as I have got a C5750. Was thinking of switching to inkjet but might just stay with Oki for now, especially if I can find a decent transfer paper for coloured tops!

Personally I would stay with TTC (which is what I intend to do). From what I know about laser transfers durability and washability are the two key factors. TTC out performs everything else by a country mile.

I am only using this paper (which I hope will work!) on a one off job for a one day promotion for a very very very fussy client (the sort that will put a spotlight under each garment).

The only transfer paper I have seen that is good for coloured tops is the WOW paper. however you need a OKI White printer to do these as it makes the process very easy, you also need a good heat press.

the C301 is very different to the C711 (the C711 is the high capacity version of the C610) It has a single image unit - when an image unit fails you need to replace the unit not the faulty colour. The fuser is not great on this range (C301, C310, C321, C330, C510, C511, C530, C531) for transfer paper which is where the recommendations generally come from. this range also tends to give some backgrounding.

the 301 is the cheap GDI version of this range.

Cheers Alan

For those interested, the Exact Print does not work with the 301. Am not going to try it with my 711 as I do not want to risk damage. Sort of reminds me of a paper that was around 10 years ago

What happens with it in the C301 then SocialGiraffe?? What settings did you use?

In my experience of "recommended" printers most things can be got around if you set them right even when using ones not on the list!
