Re: Sublimation paper sizes?
Hi guys,
im not sure if this is in the right section(sorry Justin if it is) but I just had a quick question regarding sublimation papers. Does anyone trim their sublimation paper down the the size they need? For example if you are doing a one off iPhone case do you trim it down to a third of A4 then feed it through the printer that way? Or do you just use a full A4 sheet?
any suggestions would be most welcome and apologies if this has been asked many times before or if it seems like a stupid question.
TIA,
Phil

Re: Sublimation paper sizes?
Phil i would think it would depend on your printer, if i was using a A4 Epson i would do this and have done with other paper types, but as i have a brother that loads from a tray i would think i could only put "real" sizes in it.
I was thinking the same the otherday with a mug and just decided against it, id rather loose a 26p piece of paper then jam my printer

I've got the A4 Ricoh so it is a tray I think but there is an option to change the size but I see what you mean, it could be more hassle than its worth but I was thinking as I'm only testing at the moment I would ask the question in case someone is doing it differently.
Re: Sublimation paper sizes?
Maybe if your colours are good just print a few designs at once, rather that then break your ricoh

Re: Sublimation paper sizes?
We're on roll feed printers, and it's too much hassel to change to sheets for a one off job, or to change the roll size on a per job basis, so we lay things out in photoshop to make best use of the roll width - filling it up either with multiples of the same design or a few different designs in one go, the printer than automatically cut off the page at the given length. So, although we have to use a whole width of paper, we can choose the length of each print.

That's fair enough pisquee, I'd love to see a roll feed printer in action! Might have to go on youtube and start dreaming lol.
Re: Sublimation paper sizes?
I use a Ricoh I pre cut my A4 sheets in 3 for phone covers and mugs, set up a new preset paper size, then just select it in powerdriver, never had a paper jam. Really great for mugs, just print, wrap, press, no additional cutting required.

Re: Sublimation paper sizes?
We cut our sheets down to save waste, but only to normal "A" sizes, so we cut A3 to A4 or A5 but we have a big guillotine to do it so I know its 100% accurate and then simply just select the right size in Corel and print driver.
We also lay up multiple designs on one sheet to maximise usage.
