Balmoral Mugs

Hi All,

I've been adding to our range of mugs lately and can't find a supplier for Balmoral China mugs. I went through all the different styles about a year ago and have a sample of this mug but forgot where I got it from. In fact I have another 4 bone china styles that I can't figure out the suppliers for. Should have taken better notes at the time I guess.

Balmoral was the short straight sided bone china mug wasn't it? Not seen these for several years now.

That was the one. Got one blank sat on my desk and can't remember where I got it from. I must have got it only 1 year ago.

I've had a look through my main contacts in Europe and can't see them currently offered anywhere - and, like others, I certainly don't recall seeing them for a couple of years.

I "think" I know where I got it from now but am sure they don't do them anymore. Just as I start finding other styles then others disappear. Oh well. Could always buy some plain and coat them by hand........ that'll be fun.

I've been asked for them several times over the last couple of years but I always have to turn the customer down.

What makes it awkward is that each time you tell a customer that they're not available, they say that they are because screen printers do them.

I think there are people out there who like the idea of a lighter mug that isn't so fancy as the Windsor design. They find ceramic mugs (once filled with drink) too heavy. It's funny that we cater for men with biceps the size of Bournemouth* with our 15oz El Grandes and heavy steins, but everyone forgets those that prefer something a little lighter.

I seem to recall that, during the months following the disappearance of TAMS, all china mugs vanished too. However, the Windsor one made a comeback. Isn't it time the Balmoral one did, too?

It's from the 4th series when they're talking about the magazine "King & Country", which Blackadder describes thus - "The
stuff's about as convincing as Dr. Crippen's defence lawyer. The British Tommies are all portrayed as six foot six with biceps the size of Bournemouth."

Are these ones you'll be coating yourself? If they're pre-coated, I'd be interested in some.

I had a request from a returning customer recently asking for a Bone China version of the regular ceramic mug. All I could offer was a Windsor, but they didn't go for it because it's not what they wanted.

I remeber the one. Not my favourite series but still good.

I wouldn't coat them myself but have them done specially. Don't yet know the min quantity. I have a few styles for China I do but the Balmoral seems to be more popular. I tend to push them onto the marlborough as an alternative. I am going to see what other styles they have available for printing as well.

I did see a supplier in China that offers a square mug as well as triangular supposedly for subli printing. Also the mug that has the spoon held in the handle.
