thanks lads .. ill place my order today for the A4 Ricoh .. as for transfer paper is it possible to buy a clear film type paper so that you can see the image through it before pressing or is it just white paper that is available ... reason i ask is that my press is slightly larger than A3 so using up to 2 sheets of A4 gives me up to A3 .... saves my buying the A3 Ricoh until i can afford it .. :)

Just back tracking a little on this...

What's your budget for the printer and inks together?

You ask about finding better pricing on the Sublijet inks - unfortunately, Sawgrass, who are the only readily available supplier of sublimation ink for the Ricoh printers fix their prices, and won't allow their dealers to discount their prices from this policy. So, if you go with a Ricoh printer, then you're tied in to their inks for the long term.
If you go for the Epson or Brother printers for sublimation work, then you have a lot more choice and options of ink.

Also, you seem to be saying that you'd want an A3 printer ideally, is that is the case, and you think your business plan shows potential, then it would be a better investment to go straight for the A3

In terms of quality with the Ricohs, they are primarily a 4 colour office printer, they don't have options for more colours to print with, or sizes bigger than A3. If you then look over the fence at Epson, they have printers with 6 or more colours, and ones aimed at printing graphics to photo quality.
Whichever printer you go for, it won't be designed for sublimation ink, but as I expect you want to go into business printing graphics to a professional standard, do you want to use a printer designed for printing text, and the odd Excel/PowerPoint pie-chart, or one designed to print photo quality graphics.
In terms of build quality and reliability, the Ricohs are good mind - that is where being an office printer is definitely a plus, over a consumer/home printer.
As far as dealers are concerned, there are a lot of them, and I would recommend finding one who are close to you incase things go wrong, or you want them to help you get up and running. If you want to go with a Sawgrass system, then to find their dealers, there is this link on their site: http://www.sawgrasseurope.com/find-dealer
If you choose to go with a more independent route, and choose the printer and inks that you want, then there are dealers out there, and ones which can still offer you good support. Before buying on this route though, it is good to ask the dealer/suppliers what support they can give you - there are some helpful people out there who know their stuff and are using what they sell, and others who are just out to make some money and haven't a clue what they're selling or how to use it properly.

There is a FAQ on printers and inks on the forum, and I'm surprised you haven't been advised to read through it yet. It is here: http://www.dyesubforum.co.uk/vbforum/sh ... ch-Printer
