Re: Which A4 dye sub printer to go for ?

Post by Volusian »

Hi all .... i have only just joined so please go easy on me ... :)

I run a smallish Sign company in East Yorkshire and now wish to extend into the dye sub printing side of things ...

Initially i will only need an A4 printer and was wondering which one to go for ... i do like the look of the Ricoh SG 3110DN ...

Would you say this is a good printer to go for or are there better ones in A4 format that i should consider ..

Also taking price into consideration where is the best place to get the Sublijet inks from in the UK ... ?

Thanks ...

You could do worse than go down the Ricoh route, especially for your first printer :-) Easy to use and maintain, I wouldn't waste my time with anything else if I were you.

You'll find a list of suppliers here......http://www.dyesubforum.co.uk/vbforum/sh ... -Suppliers

I've just started with the Ricoh 7100DN A3 and it's excellent.

May also be worth you looking at Premium Membership (£10 per year) as you can save on printers and inks this way, quickly recouping your £10 ;-)
take a look here for more info. http://www.dyesubforum.co.uk/vbforum/sh ... ow-active!

Ricoh recommendation from me as well. I bought the A3 7700 size and find it is excellent....no clooged print heads just leave it on and it goes into 'sleep' mode and looks after itself. Give BMS a call and have a chat...they are very helpful.

if one buys the printer and the sub inks from BMS as a package do they give a full years warranty on the printer as i have heard that once the printer is used with dye sub it voids the warranty with Ricoh ?

If the printer and inks are purchased from a licensed Sawgrass dealer, then Sawgrass take up the warranty. Should the printer develop problems, you go to your supplier who then take up the issue with Sawgrass and get things resolved for you. Should the printer fail after 12 months then Sawgrass will offer incentive upgrades to get you back up and running a significantly less cost than buying a new setup. Hope this helps!

Gotta say BMS sorted my problems out a treat when my printer went wrong BMS contacted sawgrass for me sawgrass were unable to fix the problem so arranged a replacement printer through BMS cracking service took all the stress away and shows that when buying a new printer the value of the licensed sawgrass dealer such as BMS should not be uinderestimated
