Re: Tmt sublimation v wow transfer stuff etc
Whilst looking on the TMT Web site they have two forms of printing, sublimation and using laser printers and there own wow papers etc, does anyone use the second type (wow papers). As I have a few question I would like to find out! Mainly do you need to use there printers or can you use any laser printer? What is the finish product actually like? Do people use this instead of sublimation etc etc?
Re: Tmt sublimation v wow transfer stuff etc
I don't have enough time to type the full answer here, talk to TMT technical.
Sub & laser are utterly different.
To use wow 7.2 you can use many laser printers, to use wow 7.5 you can only get the proper and full advantage results using one with white or clear toner; - do you have one of those?
Talk to TMT - they are paid to answer your questions, - and they the tec department will give you honest answers!

Hi Dave
Logo bear is correct and having both systems here I think I prefer the WOW system when pressed. However the pressure you need to press the wow garments is very very high and you must have a decent heat press (Adkins for example).
You can use a standard laser printer and until last week I was using a £100 HP CP1025 for their 3.1 paper and it worked okay (you need to remove the exit rollers). But the colour was not spot on and TMT do not support the printer so you are pretty much on your own with it. I never tried any of the other papers so would not know if they worked with the cheap printer or not, but I do not see why not.
TMT will always send you samples of your own work.
ALso, the WOW paper is coming down in price soon and they are bounding around a price of about £1.00 per sheet instead of the current £3.00 per sheet it currently is. This is because the paper used to be hand made by they think they have an automated system now.

Its very different and personally I would say better!
If you email Carl Newbury (cnewbury@themagictouch.co.uk) with the two logos he will provide you with a couple of printed samples for you to try.
(Mention my name so he knows how you got his email address)

If I was doing just garments that is what I would go for.
In fact I do not think I would even get a cheap cutter initially.

I would deffo get a cutter, even thou I love laser trasnferes, we probably get over 50% of out £ from cut vinyl.
I have never been able to justify a versacam

Re: Tmt sublimation v wow transfer stuff etc
i have a silouette cameo and a chinese cutter 54" so im ok in the cutting area,
im defo swaying to this laser transfer from TMT, Just need to think if the white toner one is worth me buying straight away or just purchase the normal one and see how i get on, thing is most people want black or coloured t-shirts nowadays.

Re: Tmt sublimation v wow transfer stuff etc
if you are swinging to laser, then you probably want 2 laser printers anyhow.
The 711w would be considerably more expensive to run for regular laser transfers than a regular one as it has no Black toner (the cheapest colour) and hence has to use CMY composite which works out a lot more money toner, - and doesn't product as good a blacks either.
I suggest getting a CMYK laser, seeing how you get on, and add a white toner printer as you need it.
