A good idea if you 'really' need the latest issue. There's Home and Student versions on that well known web auction site for much less.......although I'm not sure what the difference is between H&S and the more expensive versions.

A student/home version MUST NOT be used for commercial purposes. So if you are selling what you create in Corel then you should be using the full standard version.

Think Corel must have looked at Adobe's subscription model and decided it was a good idea... Photoshop CS6 comes out at slightly cheaper monthly cost - £14.29
I have the full Adobe Creative Cloud package, so I get to download and install all of their products - mostly InDesign, Illustrator, Muse, Photoshop, Lightroom, Edge Animate.

I am a little shocked at the price!
I have mostly corel 11, but do own X2 or similar, and really, there is very little difference, - except you need a better PC to run them!
Unless you need ALL the advanced features, just use a cheap old version, buy once, use many times ?

Hi Logobear
I find that the import filters are the thing I need the most and hence need the most up to date. A lot of my work comes in from outside sources so I need to make sure that I have the most up to date version. Other than that, I 100% agree with you

Hi Logobear.
I was running 12 for a while then was upgraded to X4 when I bought my Wilcom embroidery software, its part of the Wilcom package. If you are working face to face with your customers you will find that X4 has a much quicker and easier to use trace function. You can trace and clean up the design while the customer is there. Might be worth having a look at, its saved me loads of time and headaches.

We have X5 and X6 and its so much better than v12 and earlier which I first used years back!!
The biggest difference between Home/Student and full Commercial, other than the obvious licence restriction, is the colour management. They seem identical in features until you come to use ICC profiles and professional colour management and then you'll find its missing in the Home/Student version.

Re: For those of you who WANT Coreldraw
I was under the impression that Home & Student versions were identical, the only difference being the licence restrictions? A friend uses X4 and tells me colour management and profiles aren't an issue...maybe not as extended as in normal version? I'd be very surprised though.
