Ive posted in here because there isnt a plotter/cutter section...

Im doing some small vinyl cutouts for tshirts and im finding that the cutter isnt cutting back to its original position! Imagine a circle, the machine cuts but doesnt cut right to the original insertion point of the blade. Its leaving about half a millimeter or maybe even less. On large designs this isnt a problem, but for text it is. When I come to weed the vinyl i get letters lifting off with the vinyl.
I can actually see that it hasnt cut to the original point. Its infuriating on small pieces.

Ive adjusted the offset and mucked about with settings to see if it works but everytime no :( Ive changed blades as well which did kinda work but not as it should.

I use Illustrator to add cutlines.

Just wandered if anyone else has tips :ugeek: :ugeek:

cheers
Dave.

cheers paul ;)

Just to add more now that ive remembered...

When using Illustrator you have to apply a 'stroke' to the text to activate the cutline for the Versaworks software to cut. The only stroke you can use is the 'centre' stroke (people who use it will know what i mean)

when using text in Illustrator and then converting to 'outlines' i notice that the cutline is slightly off! and thats the bit that doesnt cut. Ive tried both postscript and converting to outlines but the same is visible when i zoom in to see where the joins are.

in my opinion, the cutline should exactly match the outline of the text. There are several different settings to choose from but only 'centre' works.

arrggg its buggin me....to the point where i might buy a dedicated cutter!

Chars
Dave.
