Re: aghhghhghhh @%&@*in ebay customers *£!&@^
Think I have an advantage in that there aren't many sellers selling the products I sell on Ebay, and for most of them, I've been selling them the longest. I definitely have repeat customers, some who just keep buying from me through Ebay, some who prefer PayPal invoicing, and some pay cash/BACS from normal company invoicing.
So, limited competition on Ebay for me, and I've been there longest, so means getting the top spot of the best match was fairly easy, and easy to keep, along with good sales got me to powerseller/top rated pretty quick - in first month or two iirc.
I don't actually have a website for this line of the business, as Ebay seems to provide the perfect platform, although I have considered branching out onto Amazon, gumntree, ecrater, alibaba...

I think youve hit the nail on the head pisquee with having a niche market with limited competition.
Thats the real secret of selling.
Just wish my sub products were selling as well as my other top item.

Got an email regarding changes coming this Autumn from eBay. Everyone can kiss their top listed status right out the window, especially for any kind of personalised items. According to this email you must offer
•A minimum returns period of 14 calendar days, using the new way of specifying your returns policy.
•1-day or same-day dispatch.
•An express delivery option – offering delivery within 1 day.
•A free postage option.
Oh and this now affects your discounts too. No top listing - no discount.
Now *if* you meet these targets you will get increased visibility for your item (on a per item basis).

It says this above
Important: You don’t have to meet these requirements for all of your listings, but you’ll only receive the associated benefits and final value fee discounts on listings which do meet the requirements.
So you can do just one listing with all the requirements to keep your TRS BUT wont get discounts on the rest!
Although wondering what the associated benefits means, does that mean search results?
The 14 day bit is already in force if you make a new listing.
Dont think they should lower it to £1000 either, thats too easy everyone will be a TRS

Bugger, scrap that above
+This means that when you create a listing that meets the requirements, it’ll automatically display the eBay Top-rated seller badge on the item page, receive improved visibility in Best Match and you’ll receive an associated discount on its final value fee.
So reading that, that means it wont get the badge and wont get the search results unless meets the requirements. :frown:
and from the picture part Don't include borders, text, or artwork on the picture
buy it now is going to be immediate payment :frown:

all this just shows that ebays asperations are to be an amazon type portal. its incredible to see that you MUST offer a free postage option you shouldnt earn from postage costs so why should ebay take a percentage of a sum of money that in theory should not be part of your income what next ? perhaps we should give ebay a percentage figure of your phone bill or your electric bill i have a feeling other sites such as esty and ebid are going to see an increase in members but to be honest i think ebay would be happy with that anyway . small businesses rest assured you are no longer welcome at ebay

ebid & etsy, great as they are and I'm sure some people get some mileage out of them, don't have anywhere near the impact/marketing of eBay. Its now becoming an envelope stuffing enterprise at eBay (and Amazon). Personalised stuff will go the way of the dodo on eBay cause you wont get people aspiring to top seller cause its impossible.

The photos are going to be a pain as well, no writing, no logos, no boarders, no artwork allowed and have to be min 500 pixels accross.
Only the other day by ebay CS was i told to put measurements on the photo to show size, now they will have to be taken off again.
