Anyone else get Banding issues

You're not alone. I had / still have exactly the same problems. The dealer that sold me the Ricoh was very good and replaced the printer about week or so after I bought it in September last year, saying i must have a duff one. However the new printer is no different. Nothing wrong with any of the alignment tests. Fortunately 99 per cent of the time I'm printing photos that don't have large areas of single tone in the images and the banding doesn't then show. I have to avoid anything that does like the large graphics that you've shown, which is hardly ideal.

If I had the time I'd try and resolve the issue but I don't want to be without a dye sub printer at the moment. The printer certainly isn't as good resolution as my epson1400 or ten year old epson 2100 (still going strong!). Sawgrass profile also seems to be very poor but am using a workaround on that as well until i eventually get some custom profiles made. One thing I have found is to print using the "error diffusion" setting rather than "photographic". It seems to give some improvement. The printer seems to be built for speed rather than high quality. Something that seems to be generally lacking in the Dye Sub industry I've found since I started last year. I could rant on all night but I'm afraid its not going to be any help to you. I've gone almost completely bald in the last few months. I also heard one dealer had stopped selling ricohs because of banding issues. Might have read it on this Forum. Cant remember.Just wanted to let you know its not a one off.

First of all Steve, welcome to the forum!
thanks for the post, it is just like how I would write it! My issues are banding on large tone areas but I have been printing a few text only mugs with it and either I don't notice it or its not there, so it's 2 printers for me epson and Ricoh with the epson being used 99% of the time, I contacted sawgrass on this a week ago and have yet to receive a reply.
