Customer service is a complete joke at ebay for sellers
I have had a question ive tried to get answered since december so far ive had 5 promises of phone calls 3 of which we were given specific times they would call we have yet to have a call from them i rang about this and spoke to a guy there who agreed this wasnt one said he would speak to the relevent persoin and definatly ring me back before 5pm that day without doubt. that was over a week ago ive had a go at their chat help window 3 hours and transfered to 10 differnt people still no answer i rang the other day and said im being threatened with a neg feedback witha service i offer they asked what the problem was so i said "well ive promised to give the customer 6 call backs but failed to do so and i also failed to answer their email" the ebay agent said "no wonder hes threatening you with a neg feedback you cant do that " i said "oh sorry did i say me no i meant ebay have done all this to me " the phone went very quiet !

ebay couldnt give two hoots about their sellers, unless you are a big wig company, as long as their buyers are happy thats all they care about, these no fault refunds do my head in, they get to keep the item and have a refund, and all paid from ebay fees that we the sellers pay.

You cant win, and buyers know it.

@fairy - talking to ebay CS is like talking to a automated script. whether its uk or india.
Phoned them to complain about this...nothing we can do...i said, but how can he leave 4 stars marked down when clearly they are not ?
nothing we can do about it....you can call this person and ask them to reverse it ? - EH ? you having a laugh here i said, phone him ? i looked at his other "bad" feedback he gave to others, and about 80% of them were technology based products...ie: other phone cases, electrical goods ect.
but they still say i should phone....can you imagine ME trying to phone this twit ?.....be as well ordering a new phone from argos before i do it

we are learning very fast about ebay and its staff...or should i say, its business workings.
The attitude is - keep the buyer happy at ALL COSTS, as there will always be more people selling stuff, whether it be private or business...so sod the sellers is the name of the game over there.
We are doing ok on ebay i suppose, but we are def looking to other selling platforms as well once this new design gets sorted and running...not taking any chances...its that volatile a place to sell

Ebay really dont give a crap about the seller and never have done. Infact they never will.
I will admit that i do sell on ebay at the moment but thats because i am new to this business and have found that if you want to get your name out there then ebay is the way to do it. I dont sell my products for stupid low prices neither. I an a firm believer in you get what you pay for.
At the moment i have a system set up so that every ebay purchase paid via paypal. Customers details get passed to my newsletter program so that when i open my own website i can then convert ebay buyers into website buyers.

I will then use ebay to merely advertise my website at zero cost and reclaim most of the rip off fees they have charged me.
Cheaper than paying for advertisement.

I sell a few things regularly on Ebay ... One of them is printer cleaning fluid. A week or so ago, I sold 2 bottles to different buyers, 1 day apart from each other. Feedback received as follows:

Buyer 1:
Thanx for postage, but item doesn't really work as described
Buyer 2:
Exactly as described. Fast delivery. A++
Thankfully the first one was still a positive feedback as he told me that he was happy with my customer service, but not the product.

I just laughed the next day when the second feedback came in, which was either written by buyer who disagreed with previous feedback and wanted to make a point, or was a nice coincidence of his standard feedback that he leaves.

I hate when sellers do this, and would report them i dont want to be spammed with newsletters and without permission as well.
Its agains ebay and paypal policy.
Not even sure if it dosnt break the law with privacy.

you can send mailing lists to people on ebay, and through ebay, if they tick they want to be on your mailing list, but not through private email just because you want to advertise.

Before you go off the deep end. Maybe you should get your facts straight. The mailing system used Is linked into ebay and paypal. Infact it is paypal that sends the information to the mailing list.

Also the mailing list is within ebay rules as the purpose of the mailing list would be transaction related.

Example.

Thank you for your recent purchase with us on ebay. We have just finished building our website and thought you would be interested in purchasing direct and make even more savings.

Thats transaction related and im not offering to sell them anything outside of ebay. I am merely showing them my website.
I am also not pretending to be ebay.

Its like this. Ebay dont want you to do anything. As soon as the customer purchases a product from myself they are a customer of mine. NOT OWNED BY EBAY.

I have done alot of work in recent years with email spam compliance and this system works and is legal otherwise why would ebay and paypal allow the company to use their IPN.

The system is legal and breaks no privacy law. They have the option to unsubscribe.

Seriously some people really need to open there eyes and stop getting on their high horse in matters they clearly know nothing about apart from copy and pasting from ebay.
