A General post
Re: A General post
Hows about you give me 10 grand I will then buy an embroidery machine and do any work that you source at cost price for the next 24 months after that we work on a rate that is fair to both of us. (better deal than his).
Or: You use your 10 grand to buy your self a decent embroidery machine and some stock, then source and produce any work that you get, thereby getting yourself all the profit for the hard work that you do, and you own your own machine which has a quite high secondhand value. (An even better deal that mine or his).
Jack.

If at first you don't succeed, read the manual.

Re: A General post
i think the points here are getting quite blurred like i say i didnt want to villify the guy 10 grand would be to buy stock with so its a bit unfair to say give me the 10 grand and ill buy the machine etc it wouldnt be a better ddal as id still need to buy stock also as ive stated there are other aspects to this which seem to be being lost and this post does now seem to be turning into chinease whispers i posted this more as a sounding board and have had some very good advice but lets steer clear of assuming i have no business sense or that the guy in question is mr evil. it is a good deal for this guy but lets remember the other points heisalso going to buy a premisis for this so hes not really a fly by night it is also to some degree a risk to him soalthough ive decided not to go forward with his offer at the same time i dont want to dismiss the guy as dr evil either he was good enough to offer this to me first and i can be sure he will now offer it to someone else this could affect my business directly whi h was and still is my initial concern but anyway you look at it its a business offer for me to accept or dismiss again thanks to you all for your input and advice
Re: A General post
I cannot see why you could possibly want 10k of stock, all the suppliers give next day delivery, let them hold the stock anyhow!

Re: A General post
I dont think anyone is painting this guy as Dr Evil but it seems to me (and possibly many others) than he is trying it on.
It seems all pretty one sided and he ends up winning no matter what. If it works out you'd be winning too, thats good news - but you'd never be winning as much as him and not on your own terms and you'd be putting up all the cash and hard work for him.
I just dont see a scenario where you end up winning and I cant see a scenario where he doesnt end up winning one way or other.

Is it the plan that you'd buy the £10,000 of stock from him?

On a positive note to find some one with the 10.000 is not as easy as it looks, plus some with the skills and reputation that you have, I think it will be a long while before the dragon is dead. Its a tough time for every at this present moment. So for competition to move in and take over is not going to happen for a while, if ever, as they will have the same thoughts as you. For that amount of investment most people are going to want more control over what they sell and how.. So go fly the flag and you don't have to much to worry about.
Re: A General post
I didn't think it was as bad a deal as many say on here. The number of times I have heard people over the years say that they can do something themselves rather than outsource etc, then 99% of the time do nothing about it. The deal put on the table is always a starting point for negotiation. If there is potential to make money and you can minimize risk then all opportunities should be explored in detail. As far as names are concerned, I would put extra profit in the bank way before sentiment.
