Re: Waste Ink Collector

Post by Mossy88 »

Hi,

just wondering if this sounds normal my waste ink tank on the LCD is looking full and the red light is flashing. Im guessing this means it is nearly full?

I have only been printing since October 2012, i have looked online for a new one and it says that it can do 27,000 prints i have not got no were near that number yet, So a little help would be great.

Also could i just open up the ink tank empty it then use the reset method on the printer. As they seem very expensive for what they are.

Thanks.

Seems a bit quick to me.

However, if you have a look on you tube, Conde has a great video to show you a good work around should you get caught short with the tank being full and you need that print urgently.

Not saying it will work on your machine as you do not tell us what machine you have, however I have done it with my Ricoh GX7000 and if done properly works really well (got about an extra 500 prints before I actually replaced it!)

I've done the Conde trick on my GX7000 too.

If you try it make sure you use glossy white paper/card.
I used normal white card at first and it just absorbed the ink in the tank and became black card :)

Cheers for the reply i thought that too well to soon, its for a ricoh sg3110dn.

do you actually open up the tank?, i seen the video to reset the printer so it thinks it can print.

Not sure what you mean by the card.

For the GX7000 you pop the tank out of the printer and remover the top cover.

You then put a piece of white card under the optical sensor (so the printer gets a reflection back and no longer thinks the tank is full) and pop the cover back on.

Good tip about it being glossy Mark.

Mossy, search on Conde's you tube channel and you will see exactly what you need to do to the ink unit.

Another tip is to get some rubber gloves!

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Conde tips previously, you can also override the warning, and also get an accurate ink level, both these save you a few quid, they are one of the few suppliers who try to save you a few quid.

Sorry to bring this back up, i have been checking out the videos, i managed the reset the warning so i can carry on printing.

now i would like to open it up to clean it out, but on the sg3110dn there is no screws to undo like in the videos?

Any one got any tips or done this model before.

With the 7000 there are screws but once you have undone them you still have to prize the thing open. When doing this it does feel like the unit is about to break so its probably the same with the 3110.

Best advice is to get a new collector and before you replace it with the new one havea go at lifting the lid and cleaning the one you have
