Try the following breakdowns on something to see the varying results.
100C 70M
90C 60M 10K
Its essentially a short coming of RGB monitors. Even calibrated ones are not that great (although significantly better)

Thanks very much! I'll play around with some variations and try to come up with a reliable navy.
Re: my navy blue ends up as purple
Using Ricoh printer, sawgrass inks, sawgrass profile, and I followed the set up sequence for coraldraw to work with powerdriver. No problem, not saying it is the answer, only I don't have a problem.
Hope that helps.

Re: my navy blue ends up as purple
i have an issue printing from Illustrator, where my colours come out wrong. Photoshop is fine. Sawgrass informed me there is a known issue with Illustrator, which I don't know if I believe or not but there could be! I know its not the same software you are using, but my point is that one piece of software prints perfect on my system, whereas another doesn't, so may be worth trying printing from another program if you have access. Just to do a comparison.
Re: my navy blue ends up as purple
as a follow up to this, I have had better results by simply printing the design from microsoft paint rather than printing from the design software. I save the image as high res jpeg and export into paint, I dont why this should help but it does improve the Purple/navy blue situation. Maybe someone might be able to explain?
Re: my navy blue ends up as purple
I think it's a problem with the sawgrass driver.
I used to use a Ricoh gx3300 with the visisub inks and driver and never had the problem.
we then upgraded to a sg3110 with sawgrass inks and there driver and this problem occurred.
strange thing is when it's a photo or customers art the problem doesn't occur but when you choose blue from the colour palette for text or a block the blue is always darker than the screen shows and light purple changes to dark purple when printed.
we now have colour templates set up for when we use these colours to match them perfectly.
its definitely not a monitor problem as we have a large format printer running off the same PC and the colours on that come out perfectly.

Re: my navy blue ends up as purple
Visisub is just another brand name used for the same Sawgrass inks.

They may be from the same manufacturer but the ink inside the cartridges isn't the same.
Don't believe me put a cartridge from the sublijet range in to your printer with visisub and see what happens!

There are however more than one brand name for this ink - SubliJetR and VisiSubR are the same, just as Artainium ink is sold under different brand names (Including VisiSub). We have interchanged VisiSub and SublijetR inks without issues and have changed inks from VisiSub to Artainium without problems.Justin;76101 wrote:Visisub is just another brand name used for the same Sawgrass inks.[/

Re: my navy blue ends up as purple
We accidentally put a subli jet cartridge in a Ricoh 3300 with visi sub carts installed and colours changed dramatically until we discovered the mistake we then replaced it for a visisub cart and after printing quite a few copies we then got back to the normal quality.
How do you explain that?
I'll pop in to visi sub in the morning since they are about 400 metres away and ask them.
