Hi everyone,
I was wondering how best to print a Pantone specific colour on a mug, I know there are lots of variables, heat, time, temp, ink type, paper type etc but wondered if this was actually possible?

It's never a good idea to try and pantone match with sublimation. Getting very close is possible but it's tricky. It's also a pain if you produce something and the customer comes back wanting a few more mugs....you may have a slightly different batch of mugs, working temperatures and so on can all create small changes to your final print.

I produce very specific colours and different skin tones for a customer and I also print mugs with a design that is a scanned piece of material. The customer wanted this to look like the material was just stuck on the mug but you have to be realistic in what you can achieve :-)

Thanks for that - it sounds like a lot of bother! As a learner I can do without the hassle, quick thought though, if the "test template" that Paul designed for mug printing included some pantones, would that make it easier to try, or would I just be digging a hole?!

With Simon on this one, I wouldn't put yourself down that road tbh.
