Re: is my pricing wrong

im looking at around £2 to make and package a mug, and im seeing people sell for £3 on ebay saying dishwasher safe and have thousands of feedback.
what the hell am i doing and no way can i compete or give competitive prices,
im getting all my stock from bms

Re: is my pricing wrong
Pricing is never 'wrong'. There are so many variables to consider. The bottom line is charge what you have to or need to to make it worth your while. A 'quality' product will always sell.
Re: is my pricing wrong
ok thanks i was waiting to see if anyone said im paying to much but it seems ok around £2 mark thanks
Re: is my pricing wrong
Open forum and everyone is advertising making mugs for under £2.00but it seems ok around £2 mark
If your using good gear, good mugs etc, and not vat reg, I doubt you'd be able to print for under £2.00 IMO
Re: is my pricing wrong
I think all your assumptions are good, but the mistake is to think that a startup with a single clamp and little experience can profit from £3 mug sales, because YOU cannot, - but other setups might......
I suggest you look to markets where you can sell £10 mugs, - or at least £5 mugs, - local craft fairs, local business, schools, church, whatever.

Re: is my pricing wrong
thanks, i was never intending to sell at £3 i was just thinking they must be using cheap mugs, but i see how it can be done with a lot off presses and a high sale rate would turn profit.
i am indeed a noob, with no experience, at the moment im making them for fun and selling to friends and family and just getting the cost back for the items,
if i am wrong and its costing me over £2 then i am loosing money while i am getting experience.

Re: is my pricing wrong
sorry i don't understand completely, do you mean if i was vat reg then mugs would be cheaper to make with claiming tax back, or that my gear listed is no good.John G;66491 wrote:

i worked it out from in 12p to 37p an image, paper 4p post box 38p mug $1.13, heat tape would be in the penis also.
im not looking for nor did i think this is a get rich quick idea,
i just want to try and get back to doing something been off work for over a year and will still be sick over the next 2 years at least.
asking questions on here to get tips and keep it fun but its now feeling not so fun trying to work out costs lol
Re: is my pricing wrong
I think you should be concentrating on what you can sell them for, not saving a few % on cutting costs, as you gain experience you will discover what products you like, and service you value, while I buy over 1000 mugs at a time, and pay pallet rate, you will be buying boxes, and paying a lot for carrage, you cannot run before you can walk....., you might save 50p per mug, but it is really about your selling price, not cost price!
