Re: colour issue with printer

Post by spike72 »

hi all im new so bear with me as I try and explain we were printing out a design on our printer and where it graduates from purple to black it prints the image wrong have posted the original image from our designer a nd a picture of the mug once printed and there is a distinct blue ring, do you think this is because of the FADE from purple to black and the printer can not pickup the colour change properly this the original art work next pics are what printed out now the white one as you can see the blue hue around the ring as I said do you think it due to the graduation from black to purple, we are only using a basic set up as we are only printing to generate income for a dog rescue center so any advice would be grateful graphics program is coraldraw x6 printer is a Epson sx130, ink is generic we were told by supplier of ink to use sawgrass d88 icc profile which is currently being used with no colour correction set on printer thanks fortaking the time to read spike

Have you set Corel up inn accordance with instructions on Sawgrass site? You might get somewhere close with the D88 profile if you're using Sawgrass inks. if you're using other inks (which we cannot support here) then the profile won't give you decent prints. You could get a profile created by Paul (mod on this forum) and a discount on the price by becoming a Premium Member.

tell your supplier to bush his head against brick wall :) . sometimes and i repeat, sometimes other icc may work for someone but only just.
but if you would like to get colors as close as your setup will allow you then you need to buy supported setup from reputable supplier or get custom icc profile done for your setup. but in case of custom icc profile ou need to know what ink is in your printer so you can cary on with same ink. as new ink would mean new custom icc.

edit:

btw... this neon purple will not print exactly as on your screen. no matter what set up you got.

If your inks are generic/unbranded then you will never know what you are putting in your printer. Before going to the expense of a custom ICC profile, you NEED to know what you are using - if your supplier can't/won't tell you, then you need another supplier, as otherwise he could send you a completely different ink in his unmarked bottles next time you order, as that is what he got cheaper from alibaba the next time.

Good luck with your charity mugs but I wish I had backers that would supply me with coreldraw x6  probably better software than anyone on this site has to play with.

You'd have been better spending the coraldraw money on a printer/ink combo and using an older version imo...sorry, had to be said! lol.
