Ricoh SG3110DN 'Energy Saver Mode' 9Sleep Mode preblem.
Re: Ricoh SG3110DN 'Energy Saver Mode' 9Sleep Mode preblem.
I’ve got a problem with my SG 3110DN printer, when it goes into energy saver / sleep mode I can’t always start it back up again unless I turn the mains power off and on again. It should start up again by pressing any of the keys on the control panel. Is there something obvious that I’m missing??

having the same issue myself, although when new i am sure it did not do this, come to think of it, i am leaving it longer and longer before uses now, maybe it wakes up if only left a few hours or a day max, but after a few days i print and then nothing.
Next time it happens i shall re-start my PC instead of the printer.

Hi Red5.
The printers only a few days, I'm waiting for a Ricoh engineer to get back to me on Monday, I just thought I could get it sorted over the weekend. I've already tried re-starting the PC, but that does not work. The trouble is every time you switch the printer off on the mains it wastes ink with the priming of the heads every time it starts up again - and the cartridges are not cheap!

The printer should wake up when you send a print job to it. Have you tried that? There's no need to wake the printer up before you go to print as the computer will effectively do this when the print is sent to the printer.atrus4;62789 wrote:I’ve got a problem with my SG 3110DN printer, when it goes into energy saver / sleep mode I can’t always start it back up again unless I turn the mains power off and on again. I've already tried this, but it still does not wake up. The 'Safety Information' booklet supplied with the printer says 'To exit Low-power (Energy Saver) mode, press any key on the control panel'.bms;62897 wrote:The printer should wake up when you send a print job to it. Re: Ricoh SG3110DN 'Energy Saver Mode' 9Sleep Mode preblem.
did any of you ever come up with a solution to this? same thing seems to be happening to my recently purchased SG3110DN. Its as if the printer totally freezes up, and print jobs don't wake it either. Unplugging and replugging is the only thing that seems to fix it.
I wouldn't be terribly worried if it wasn't for the fact that its recommended to leave the printer on all the time, so I'm worried that if its freezing the heads may get blocked.

You could try unplugging the usb, then plug it back in, may wake it up. If this does it may mean you haven't installed it correctly.

Thanks John G, but unfortunately I've already tried that one and it didn't work! I did find a firmware update on the Ricoh website, that mentions the following:John G;66092 wrote:You could try unplugging the usb, then plug it back in, may wake it up. Unfortunately it seems to be PC only so I won't be able to try it for a while, as I've only got access to a Mac so will have to wait to get hold of someone elses laptop! In the meantime, does anyone know if its ok to update the firmware or should I be sticking to the original to use the Sawgrass ICC profiles etc?Version 1.1.2

This is where i found the update. http://support.ricoh.com/bb/html/dr_ut_ ... m#Firmware
Its under the firmware section near the bottom of the page.
I haven't tried it yet as I don't have PC access at the moment, so its not exactly tried and tested! If you do try it, please let us know here how it goes.
