What would you all normally do with your stuff that you have just upgraded or grown tired of?... Be honest!

Im not asking for valuable items!... Dont you think I dont know what commerce is about?... Say you have a printer ... say an Epson D82... now probably obsolete, that you no longer have use for because you have probably just upgraded to a super-duper all-singing all-dancing machine, do you think anyone would buy it from you?... would you actually offer it for sale?... NO, I doubt it!.. so why not give it away... if someone can make use of it?

Yes I would, you'd be surprised what people buy off ebay!

Ok. So you would. I stand corrected. Cant anyone have any constructive things to say? I dont want to go down the route of why Im doing this, lets just say that I am in no position to afford decent gear due to ill health and not being able to work...Im still undergoing treatment for squamous cell carcinoma.. I am trying to make do with what little I have coming in. I feel like a right numpty now for even trying!

Ian, there is always another way,
you could make some sales eg mugs etc and walk up the road to see me, i sort out a nice trade price you sell on, we both win!
but as the original post goes i dont see anything wrong in just asking,

I hope you make a good recovery and that the treatment works for you - no need to feel like a numpty, just a lot of folk on here are businesses and have had to fork out and do it the hard way, rather than have items given to them for free.

I wish you all the luck in the world, but you'll need it using other peoples cast offs, or rubbish. One of the main reasons for upgrading is usually due to problems with previous equipment. You won't learn anything from trying to use printers that only fire on 3 heads or nozzles blocked, along with that the odds and sods of sub items you'll receive will be crap as if they were any good they would have been used.

Save up and buy a new system - you'll get all the help in the world on this forum and you'll be able to produce good stuff you can sell - rather than waste your time.

Cheers John

PS: Great offer from Dave there - a few months of sales and you'll be able to afford the equipment.

I might just take you up on that Dave. About time time we met, living just 1 minutes walk away from each other!... and John... thanks. I may come across resentful at times but I put that down to my own frustration and I do understand what you mean entirely.

you had my vote right until you mentioned illness sorry for your condition but i never have gone a bundle on sympathy pleas,
i cant see anything wrong with your initial post made me smile if you reworded it a bityou probably wouldve got a better response it did come accross as a bit cheeky.
on the other hand daves idea is an excellent one esp as you are a graphic designer presumably with your own designs u sell the items dave does the production u pay dave whats left is yours to save towards equiptment total cost 0 perfect if dave dont wanna do it i would though i suspect dave is your more local therefore better option

Why don't you look at the possibility of exchanging goods or services? Maybe you have something non dye sub related that may be of use to someone? Maybe you could do some design work for someone who finds this difficult? Just a couple of ideas.
