~Someone must need them
Re: ~Someone must need them
I figure that with all the artistic (read upside down, wonkey, faded, non reversed) items we must have between us, there must be some charity somewhere that could do with mugs, t shirts, coaster ect that we donate.
Re: ~Someone must need them
I thought about offering my duds to the local church, charities etc - but then thought would I really want my bad stuff on show?
Re: ~Someone must need them
My neighbour across the road once had a few of mine because, the ones they had they smashed throwing them at each other during a domestic.........lol.
Re: ~Someone must need them
I am new to this, so what I am about to say may be "impossible", but I have a few mugs that have gone wrong already and I am sure there will be more to come as I keep learning. I thought that maybe once I have a stash of mugs that have gone wrong, would it be possible to just overprint the mug with just an all black print to hide the previous print and make a set of all black mugs ?
My plan was to do this and then give them away to a Dog Rescue charity near me for them to sell. I know "all black" mugs would not look great, but it would at least be a set and the charity could sell them for a ciuple of quid for thier funds.
Or is this not possible to overprint them to hide the original "bad print" ?

You would not get the handles and gap around the handles black, so would look a little odd imo
not to mention thats an awful lot of expensive black ink wasted on a giveaway even if it did work.

This is true, good point Viccar, I never thought about the loss of alot of ink !
Re: ~Someone must need them
Hi Tarmac,
the second biggest cost making mugs is ink, - to do 100% cmyk black overprint is just throwing good money after bad!

Re: ~Someone must need them
not often we get misprinted, but we have uses, i either put them inside out and reprint and use them for displays, or make a joke of them, by a big arrow pointing to the mistake.
any mugs, get given to my local garage - amazing how many mugs garages get through, and it helps oil the wheels of commerce when i need work doing on the cars or van

Re: ~Someone must need them
OK, I might try putting this forward.
I'm a Scout leader and we often have stalls at local fetes. We do "bowl for the pig", coconut shy etc.
Perhaps one of those crockery stalls might be a good idea.
If I could organise collection, would any of you be happy to see your "poor" handiwork go to a good cause?
This might be some time yet (and I'll resurrect the thread if it does)

I'm learning. So I'm probably spouting rubbish. Be patient
