Need help with dye sublimination basics please??!

I am looking for some help and advice on dye sublimination and how to start off, what i need etc?

as an off shoot to my current business, I am going to be doing some personalised items (I do dog training and am going to be doing dog coats with wording on) and have heard dye sublimination is good and easy. I was thinking of doing vinyl, using a vinyl cutter and heat press, but I have no idea what dye sub involves or what i would need.

Can you help me in basic terminology?>!
