Need advice on printing on to canvas

Hi, Everyone.
I have a heat press and an Epson B1100 Printer. I would like to print images from my computer onto canvas to make pictures. I'm trying to find out what type of sublimation ink/dye I need to do this and which paper would be best.

I would really appreciate some help on this.

You need eco slovent inks for art canvas and print direct onto it. As far as I am aware you can't print canvases with sub inks. They are made to be applied with heat to a substrate and therefore are not for use on canvas etc.

As mentioned above, the usual way to print canvas, is to print directly to it, with a large format printer, and the canvas coming on a roll which feeds directly into the printer.
However, as you can get 100% polyester canvas, I see no reason why you couldn't use sublimation to print into it instead.

But, in contrast to the above, you can buy canvas rolls which are made for water based dye and pigment ink printing, so, you wouldn't have to use a solvent ink.

Very true pisquee...I had my 'versacamm' head on.:rolleyes:...However I would doubt you could get a decent print subbing onto poly canvas unless it is smooth because the 'image' would not get evenly pressed into the 'canvas' surface hence I think printing is the only way to go.

you can get excellent results dye subbing onto canvas bms sell the canvas and the strecher frames for this (yet another fiver martin) the problem with dye sub onto canvas is most people tend to be limited to a3 size paper (so b1100 will work for this) but an a3 canvas isnt very big at all really never the less they look very good. you will need the polyester canvas like what bms sell(although i did try some off my roll of canvas just to see and it works great too) a strecher frame and the same dye sub ink you use for all other dye sub work..... down side is there plenty selling 30 inch canvases very cheaply you may struggle to compete with dye sub canvases

Be careful there...
"dye inks" and "dye sublimation" inks are NOT the same thing. Dye sublimation is the full name of the inks you need for sublimation work, but the name is usually reduced to just sublimation.

If you're really wanting to do sublimation canvasses, then you would really want a proper wide format printer and heat press if you're intent on sublimating them.
