Re: GX7000 intermitent printing

Hi guys. I'm having problems with my Richo GX7000 only printing when it wants to. Basically, sometimes it prints fine then other times I just get a printed band around 10mm then nothing, not even any streaking across the page. I get the band and nothing more often than a good print. I've just installed Power Driver and the problem is still there, I even installed a fresh set of inks in case it was a cart chip problem and still the problem exists. I've tried the head cleaning etc to no avail. This is driving me mad.

Can anybody advise me what else I can check please?

Give BMS a call....they are a mine of information and might be able to help. Good luck.

Your first port of call is where you bought it from - they be able to put you on the right track, sounds like set up to me.

Also, have a read through on T-Shirt Forums - lots of discussions on similar problems on this model over there.

Thanks for the advice people, much appreciated. The same computer is also the one I use for vinyl cutting. I did a cut vinyl job today and had a similar problem arise when cutting. The machine seemed to hesitate while cutting as if the data was flowing very slowly, so it could be a spooling problem. I have a spare day tomorrow, so I'm going to give the the machine a damn good clean out and service plus check all cable connections and leads. If push comes to shove I may even reinstall the operating system (after a full backup) as I recently removed a few old unused graphic programs that I didn't use to free up space, maybe this removed a few things that shouldn't have been removed. I'll try upgrading and reinstalling all drivers first and see what happens.

Quick update. After much hairpulling I resorted to a full reinstall of windows and all associated bits inc up to date drivers for everything. All seemed fine till I went to do a print ...... Nothing! I went through the set up again 'word by word' along with a double check of every click and setting - still nothing. I finally resorted to a phone call to Xpres and spent an hour or so on the phone to a very helpful person on their tech support. He was nearly as baffled as I was and finally suggested a 'Firmware' upgrade may be in order. This I did while he waited and all is now good on the print front at long last.

I am now a Happy Bunny and can get on with some work at last.

Thanks again for advice.
