looking for mobile dongle for my laptop when i,m out and about.
i have payg phone with 3 and used to tether it, but its a slow as hell.

anyone recommend a decent PAYG broadband dongle that actually works ?

i have used both orange and vodaphone orange now linked up with t mobile now known as EE has been very good can be slow but not often i dont have problems getting a signal

Strange. I use Three and it's faster than my T-mobile tethered or O2 sim in the dongle.
But I'm on a monthly contract. Dunno if that makes any difference.

I agree since becoming EE, T-Mobile speeds have started to go dog slow.
I'm learning. So I'm probably spouting rubbish. Be patient :wink:

If your tethering is slow then dongle wont be an faster. i would say phone is best dongle at this moment :)

Actually, I would say dongle is faster. They typically have better antenna on them (Because we have a camper van, mine has an external magmount antenna too)
If I plug into the external antenna, I can get 5 bars pretty much anywhere!

ive gone back to BT on the home phone, this gives me access to all their points, for free so seemed the most sensible choice to me

is this OpenZone? If so I sign up once and had they mobile phone to connect to free hot spot, unfortunately where i leave there is no many of them :( that is great shame as idea is quality!

thats the name i was looking for - openreach.
I,m the same as you paul - where i live there is an openreach signal but its pants, like 1 bar anywhere in town

must say used it while we were travelling from kettering to Berwick upon tweed, and had a signal everywhere we were, even seahouses, so no complaints so far, the set up is slightly different when you have their internet, than if you are just signing up with a mobile, so maybe thats why - nope not openreach its btfon
