mouse mat shipping

still curious about this.
Wondering how others charge only £1.49 for shipping when these things are classed as a packet - cheapest £2.20 2nd class.
So how do they achieve the £1.49 postage ? - i know they can add some of the postage onto the price (ebay) so its not to much of a shocker for customer postage wise.

BUT, do others sending these mats out - i wonder if they fold them over and then ship them, but then it wouldn't fit through the dreaded dummy post box thingy the "cough" nice lady at the PO kindly brings out every time she sees me :rolleyes:

any takers on this one ?

Don't actually ship these items myself but I would have thought a mouse mat will fit into an A4 envelope so would be classified as a large letter

i,m using jiffy bags for everything i post - maybe thats where my problem lies ?
Having to use bigger jiffy bag to get the dam thing in - BMS mouse mats

Try an A4 "Do Not Bend" envelope. Pretty sure that will save you a few quid

I use board envelopes that measure 315mm x 240mm & I usually get these from Staples. Thes fit well in the Post Office large letter measurements of 353mm(L) x 250mm(W) x 25mm(D). The last time I posted a mouse mat it only cost me £1.20 first class. Now if your Post Office class it as a packet then the cost goes up to £2.70 even though it is the same measurements.

i know john but i think the prob is i am having to use a bigger jiffy bag to get the thing in, because of all the bubble padding in it :rolleyes: so it ends up packet size.

gonna look into what giraffe mentioned john - A4 "do not bend" envelope

I send mine in a blue mailing bag goes for LL @ £1.20 5mm (BMS) one
if its a 3mm goes for normal LL under 100g
