ARHGGG! Tesco/Asda Car Parks

Just popped into Asda to pick up a pressie for the wifes birthday, came out and there's a whopping big gourge and scrapes all the way along the rear door - tyre, trim and rear panel. This is ontop of what we think was a trolley pushed along the wifes car just before xmas in Tesco.

2 cars now scratched or damaged - asked if Asda had any security cameras on the car park to be told yes, but they face out onto the road and entrance - what's the bloody point.

Why do these idiots have to damage things - or if its an accident, why don't they bloody own up.

Mycar was knocked when i it was parked. Luckly somone seen this andstick note behind my whiper with reg number of the asshole! But... Didnt left hes own number so police said they can not do anything as there was no wittnes

I feel your pain. Someone has clearly run their car or something down the side of my car recently. It's leased so I'm going to have to cough up too - I can't just ignore it.

I think it must be something about my car - I know it's old, well its a bloody antique, - 96 Audi A6, but over the years its picked up quite a few scratches, knocks etc and non of them have been self inflicted. Scuffs to all 4 corners, holes and dints in front and back colour coded bumpers, dings on all the doors from shopping centres / car parks - non of these were there when I bought the car off my Dad - then I remembered he didn't use the car for shopping as he lives right beside a Tesco.

I pity anybody buying a brand new car these days - must be heart breaking to see you pride and joy deteriorate while doing the weekly shop :biggrin:

Happened to my wife's Jag in a car park last year. Driver did not stop and just drove off. Fortunately there was a witness who saw everything, wrote down the reg and waited for my wife to return. Driver was prosecuted by the Police, but only when I insisted because they should not be allowed to get away with it.

When I worked and lived in Central London I had a rule of never paying over £500.00 for a car as it was always getting scratched. I moved out of London about 9 years ago and still live by this rule (although I have now reduced my budget to £400.00). It does mean I get through a lot of cars but I never lose keys as I just leave them in the car wherever I go :biggrin:

So sorry to hear about you car getting damaged like that John. I was outside some office in the city centre a couple of months back when I saw someone reverse into the front of another car that was in the disabled parking bay. The guy was just going to drive off when I stopped him & said you just can't drive off when you have damaged someone else's car. Luckily a parking warden saw it too & he came over & started taking the guy's details & all of a sudeen the guy said 'me no understand'. I knew which office the person worked & went & told them so, lucily for her we nabbed him for her.

One time my car was parked at the side of the road & as I was walking back to it a car come around the corner fast & went straight into the back of my car. Luckily he was insured & the police were driving past just after it had happend too.

That's a good system - I tend to buy and use older cars too. I've had a few brand new ones but I didn't like the feeling when I drove out of the showroom and watched it depreciating over night. My last 4 cars were all less than a grand each and I tend to keep them 4 - 5 years, or until major things either drop off, or need replacing. Looks like the Audi will last another year then it will get scrapped - i'll just send the scrap man to Asda & Tesco car parks and he'll be able to pick up most of the car from there.

I just have a bran new car and every time go to tesco i tsk photo with my phone of parked cars. But only when i park in other space then for familys.

The funny thing is Paul, if all spaces were the size of the ones for parent and families, none of this would happen. They would maybe loose 20 - 30 car parking spaces over the whole of the carpark, but it would be easier to park, and would lead to less infuriated shoppers.
