after what has been a very very boring few days I decided to go on facebook and offer my local community a discount on mugs for today and tomorrow only, Normal price was £7.50 so I offered printed mugs today special £4. Straight away I had a order for 5 mugs so was quite chuffed as there is no delivery costs as its down the road, but then after I sent him a picture of his ordered mugs he came back to me with a possible order of 100,s of mugs in batches and could I do it? COULD I DO IT! YES I CAN! but how much would you guys sell a mug for in large quantities ? I usually buy them by the case but my last lot cost me about £56 for 36 which includes vat and delivery. will I get them at a cheaper rate if I ordered bulk? if so how many? anyway tonight facebook is my bestest friend!

How did you get an order from a facebook page - do you have loads of followers or likes?

I've had one for ages (business) and haven't had one single order - I must be doing something drastically wrong :frown:

I have both a personal and a business Facebook page . I get orders from it from excisting customers . Ill post the occasional photo of a job Ive just done, wish them a Happy New Year or post silly photos of something amusing. It just keeps me in the minds of my customers and they will then contact me via facebook or email.
Just this morning I posted this photo and received 4 "likes" within 10 mins. Cant think why......

Are these customers that you have done work for in the past, and then they have joined or liked you facebook page. Or are they solely new customers that you wouldn't have been in contact with until you launched the facebook page?

I have my own page and also a business page which I try to get as many likes as possible. Everyday i update it with some pictures of my products etc, been very quiet lately so posted a special offer on local community page. 1 guy ordered 5 mugs and I did them within the hour. Next message he sent me was a link to his business page and could I do a few hundred mugs but in 100 a time. At present I have about 76 likes so every time I post it goes on each one of there walls which could be seen by all there friends. It's quite difficult to get new likes but I just keep asking for people to like my business page on my normal one.

They are excisting customers. Usually follow up orders of the same design or "can I print the same day" t-shirts or mugs for a forgotten present. Last year I had around 1,000€ from orders.
I have 70 friends ( customers included) and 54 likes. Ive been on facebook just over a year, I dont push it as I am not very good at written German.
Recently , customers are asking for me to like their page in return for them liking mine.

You can get cheaper rates on mugs (well, most things really) if buying in bigger quantities. You need to decide how many mugs you need for a certain period of time, along with how much cash you can commit to tying up in stock for that period of time, and then look for suppliers who have better pricing on larger quantities - it doesn't hurt to email or phone them and ask for a better price if you are ordering a lot.
Buying mugs 36 at a time is more costly, than even just buying two boxes for 72 mugs. A lot of the time the price advantages comes down to less shipping cost per mug - if you load up a pallet with as many mugs as possible, it will work out less per mug than a parcel service.
