Re: Wall vinyl

Post by harlequeen »

Hi
I want to put a vinyl sticker on my kitchen wall, but I don't anticipate it staying for all that long. I've never done any vinyl before, so thought I would ask for some advice. I've read the other posts here so see I need low tack vinyl, what I don't know is do I cut it with my craft robo, then apply a carrier layer, and if that's true, where do I get that from.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. If you can point me in the right direction that would be a great help.

Cheers

You cut it with the backing on, on number 1 or 2 so it cuts through vinyl but not the carrier sheet, then you weed it, then you put application tape on. (this is like masking tape) i get mine from MDP supplies

When you put on the wall you line it up put a bit of tape at top either side check its level then when level you take away the backing/carrier sheet,....o hang on ill find my instructions

1.
Makesure the surface is clean and dry.
2. Place decal on a flat smooth surface then rub over decal firmly with your hand or theedge of a reward card.
3. Slowly peel offthe backing paper (with the writing on) if the vinyl does not come away thenrub over again.
4. Placeyour decal where you want, rub over firmly again, making sure there are no airbubbles and slowy peel away thetransfer paper.
or you can watch this on how to apply not my video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-AomZXy2bM

Make sure the wall hasn't just been painted - fresh paint and the vinyl will bubble and peel off in days.

If you go to MDP you can get hold of some Aslan removable matt vinyl..

Thanks for all your replies. I've been watching the videos on you tube, but couldn't see where to get the application tape.

I use the clear.. but if it is just for yourself the paper will be fine.. the only thing is most places do rolls around 100 meters in length.. not sure you will need that much lol

how big is the design? if its not that big or intricate and its just for you, you could use painters masking tape.
