Hi Guarddog14

If it seems to good to be true it probably is. £345 for printer, mug press and heat press is very cheap and I personally would question the quality of the items. I understand that as you are starting out the items do not need to be industrial strength but the heat press element and accuracy of the temperature are fundamental to your ability to create printed items.

Personally, I would save more and purchase a Ricoh from a reputable sublimation supplier. Pisquee has pointed out that there have been problems with Ricohs, but firstly they are in America so it could well be a power source problem, secondly, the link he put was from a thread back in January 2012. If this was a major problem it would have been sorted by now. If you need more assurance then ask the expert sublimation suppliers how many problems they have had with a) Ricoh's and b) Epsons (especially unsupported models) there will be a significant difference.

Likewise with the presses. A decent mug press will cost you £150 new. Yes, three times the cost of the one advertised, but if the mug press is no good you will spend £100.00 on mugs very quickly trying to get it to print a decent image.

In short there are two sets of "newbies" on here.

Ones who buy cheap and then post constant questions about how to solve a problem
Others who buy recommended kit from a reputable supplier who post constant questions about where to source new and exiting products. Its up to you which camp you want to be in.

I agree with what you are saying Socialgiraffe. I almost bought an 'everything you need to print mugs' package from a supplier, and on a hunch I rang to check if ink was included and they were very evasive. I ended up buying a package from BMS and have never regretted it. I am now branching out this Christmas with new, exciting products. LOL

If you can go wide format, can see benefits for your business in being able to sublimate that big, have the space for it etc, then you will end up with a much better quality machine that is built for commercial/industrial use, rather than a cheap/domestic/home printer. You can then also buy sublimation inks which are much better quality than those available to users with small printers, and the cost/ml is about 1/10th of the price!
(This is what we did, and have no regrets!)
