Re: Domain name ideas

Post by Justin »

Well, the forum name seems to have been accepted quite well. Just looking at registering a domain name and would appreciate your input. Starting to look towards hosting etc. Not something I know an awful lot about so it'll be a steep learning curve.

The DSF name was a bit of a bad choice in this respect as anything DS related is taken by Nintendo related sites!
I can get any of the following. I would prefer a .com but please let me know your thoughts.

www.thedsforum.co.uk
www.thedsf.co.uk
www.thedsforum.com
www.dyesubforum.co.uk
www.dsforum.org.uk

What about www.dyesubbers.com ?

Near as I can tell, both .com and .co.uk are still available.

If not, out of the choices you list, I'm with Paul. www.dyesubforum.co.uk says what it is. Although, personally, I'd avoid any domain name if someone else already has the more popular version.

Worth a look JSR. Yes, always a bit of a shame to settle for something.co.uk when something.com is already taken!

Paul, not keen on me.ukm feel that this is better for an individual. Certainly worth looking at something a little less obvious. I would prefer a .com, not worried about cost as it isn't great shakes between the domain extensions anyway really.

I'm favouring www.thedsforum.com at the moment but early days.

i do like dsforum but as mentioned earlier "ds" may make people think that it is to do with nintendo and that this is a forum for nintendo ds users. may cause some problems.

out of the bunch I'd prefer:

I'm favouring that one myself. Bit miffed the .com is gone as I'd like that as well. Otherwise it would be thedsforum.com but I agree with other comments that this sounds Nintendo related!

Any other comments before we move forward?
