Have ordered one, without realising the visa limitation - that's a shame, as I'd think most people would be visa.

Well I must admit that I do not have a VISA card anymore. All the card issuers these days seem to be issuing Mastercards. However although the VISA process seems a bit odd it is also likely that the client has a mobile phone these days and best of all the service accepts AMEX cards!

looks very good i wouldnt use a phone personally its better suited to something like the iPad (bigger signature bit) how does insurance work on this as unless it uses signature software to check i guess they could scribble anything and then do a charge back?
might give it a go see how it works

I am lucky enough to use a Samsung Note that has a stylus and a good resolution display. On the ipad you can have pictures/prices of items etc which you can add via izettle site for recalling on the ipad.

All my debit cards say in big letters VISA so, banks do still issue VISA cards. I'd be stuck with this system as I don't have a smart phone just a good old bog standard mobile phone which does exactly what I want.WorthDoingRight;60356 wrote:Well I must admit that I do not have a VISA card anymore. i wouldn't say 'best of all the service accepts AMEX cards' unless being changed 5%+ to take AMEX is considered 'best'. AMEX cards are the most expensive cards to take that's why so many outlets don't accept AMEX!WorthDoingRight;60356 wrote:Well I must admit that I do not have a VISA card anymore. ...I also have VISA! Olympics was sponsored by VISA so they are a massive player so it's not necessarily correct to say 'all card issuers seem to be issuing Mastercards'. A sweeping generalisation based on a single sample? Statisticians beware:)

Well I like using any card that gives me the customer cashback when I buy. Luckily I have 3 cashback cards, 2 Mastercard and 1 Amex. Very few people only have a single card these days - but for those that do only have visa and no web capable phone it does seem to be of little use.
Unless I missed something in the small print the fees of 2.75% apply to all cards read in the scanner so that would make this system cheap for accepting Amex cards if Martin@BMS is being charged 5%.
When I posted this information I did so to assist those that might on occasions be in a situation where having this facility might be advantageous. At least those that read this thread can now make an informed decision as to whether it is potentially suitable for their needs.

That is the reason I have said what I've said. Reading various reviews of both iZettle & Square Register there is still quite a few balls up in the air that need to land at some point for both systems. The biggest ball that does need to land is some kind of common agreement from all the card issuers. It does appear both companies have been just a little too quick off the mark before agreements have been put into place. At least those that read this thread can now make an informed decision as to whether it is potentially suitable for their needs.
