Hi Paul.....just my 2d worth. Firstly I think it's a brilliant idea. Regards pricing there are IMO two ways of looking at this issue. View one: Is it such a 'must have' product that the 'big' operators will pay a premium price for it? View two: Is it something that could be used by the majority of producers regardless of the size of business turnover/profitability...in other words the 'little guy'?

If the answer is view one then it deserves a premium price because there will be fewer sales. If it is View two then it needs to be priced to sell in quantity. So in essence it all depends if you want to sell a few at a high price or a lot at an affordable price.

Thats the problem roger. I didnot do any market research. I simply decided to do it as i think is good idea. Is it must have? I dont hink so as ppl was doing alrigjt till this days. But is good to show to your customers how it will look like when is printed:-P

There is a potential quite large market for this when you think that there are business large and small producing mugs (and other personalised/custom products) where if the price is right they could think this is something that could add to their business, if the price structure is right, then there is no reason to think that a small operator as well as a large operator could use the service/product.

Well as one of the little guys I hope that it is affordable to use. However from a commercial standpoint I have to hope that it makes Paul some money.

If enough little guys around the world sign up and pay an affordable rate per year, then Paul can have a nice residual income for his work.

If it was me I would charge on a per module basis with an annual support fee.

When you launch this you will have to factor in your time dealing with customer queries, bugs and updating the system. Plus those who realise their customers who are using an ipad can't use it - lol.

Modules

Mugs, T-shirts, clothing etc



Then you add on extra fee for ready made templates.

That way you get a residual income that will pay for future expansion and upgrade. Without the annual fee you get no additional income.

i was thinking about this but not sure how to do it on yearly basis. i would need some kind os system that will take care of dates, payments etc...
also dont know how to do it when someone decide to stop using it... i can not just switch it off on someone else web site

If you are designing it in Flash, you can call an external php script located on your server directly from the Flash plugin.

You send the customer id to the php script from flash. The php script then checks the database - if the customer has not renewed the subscription it then sends back a variable to Flash which prevents the Flash script from continuing.

You will need a server side membership system linked to a database for the subscriptions. Plenty off the shelf packages out their.

wow.....

the last post from ASL is why i stick to clocks, and not get involved with website or program design.

I am sure there are plenty of people who will understand it, and who knows Paul may just be what you need to look further at, may be best to speak to ASL seems to know what hes on about and may help you make a decision.
