Hi All
I was attempting to make my first coaster today & the BMS website talks about remember to remove a protective film prior to making the coaster.
However I have been trying with a pair of tweezers to remove such a film & cannot seem to see one & all I have managed to do is to chip some white off the edge of the coaster which is 100mm square.
I saw one video that suggested putting the edge of the coaster under the press to warm it up first, I did that also to no avail. So now I am wondering if the coasters they sent me do have this protective film on them or not, they're shiny if that helps to describe them.
If the film is on them can someone please explain how it is best removed.
Regards
Edd

If there is a film on it then if you rub a dry thumb from one corner inwards you should be able to peel it off. Maybe your coasters dont have a film coating but that is not normal.

Edd they sometimes have the film on them and sometimes not it can be a bit awkward to know at times , i find if there is a protective film you can easily scratch it with your finger nail if after a couple of scrapes you feel nothing or nothing lifts off id assume theres no protective film i have even pressed these with the film on and when i realised ive taken the film off and the prints gone through fine though i wouldnt recommend doing this intentionally

Once you manage to get one film off. Use that film and rub it on the edge of another coaster to remove the film from others. Sorry, tongue twisted , but I think you get my meaning.

UniSub have been changing the product so some have and some haven't which is a bit of a pain. On some the protective plastic is yellow which is easier to see, but the clear film can be more difficult. If you can't pull the edge then safe to assume it doesn't have it on.MREDD;59948 wrote:Hi All
