cutting stencils

I have been asked by the mother in law (groan) if i can cut her some stencils out, now i have my large cutter and also a craft robo - anyone know what i need to use to cut them - is it a vinyl of somekind but clear ?? i have some old vinyl i was thinking of putting in the cutter upsidedown and using

If she is going to draw round stencil why not just use a thick paper/card ?

i think she is going to spray through it, on wooden boxes apparently and they are quite intricate

Can you just use standard paper if it's going to be sprayed over? The little craft robo would cut through card/ clear backing from flex- the latter of which would give you greater re-usability (is that a word?)

yes thats the word, i am going to try cutting through some cleaned up backing tonight - all in the name of good family relatiohnships you understand - otherwise the cauldron will have my name on it

You could use thick card but laminate it first this might work.

Stencil film would be your best bet.....cuts and weeds the same as vinyl and Mulberry sell several different kinds for rough/smooth surfaces etc.

There is a stencil film called "Mylar" used for stencils to be sprayed, it is normally cut with a heat tool like that used in pyrography but with a adapted tip. I can not see any reason why you Graphitec Craft Robbo would not be able to cut it.
