Vinyl for workwear
Re: Vinyl for workwear
Been asked if I can print on workwear jackets like dewalt ones etc i had a look online and its a polyester waterproof outer. Is there any vinyl to print on this?
also how to work out a price to just cut and press a logo on the jacket small 3by 4 inch at the front and 9 by 5 inch at the back.

Polyester is a good material for standard flexes to adhere to and so I would imagine any of the good quality flexes sold by reputable dealers would be ok to heat press on. Costing will obviously depend on the cost of your flex, how many logos you are going to cut out of it etc and the time taken to layout and press each jacket.

Ok with it being waterproof I thought the vinyl might fall off! Well with every new thing always takes longer to press! I need to work out my vinyl costings first I think that will make things easier to price. Thanks for your input

Some members on here have also sublimated hi-viz jackets with good success. I am sure when they see this thread they will chip in with their thoughts.

If I were you I check to make sure the vinyl will stick because of the waterproofing. Ive had some in recently that vinyl will not adhere to. Leave it overnight as well, it stays on at first then slowly peels off.
Better save than sorry.

Were you able to find any vinyl that would stick in the end? Very useful information on it coming unstuck but wonder if there is a particular flex that is better than another.Earl Smith;59305 wrote:If I were you I check to make sure the vinyl will stick because of the waterproofing. Siser says that their P.S. Film Extra flex is a cuttable material with adhesive backing specially formulated to be transferred onto “difficult” textiles such as nylon, leather, light silicon treated garments(K-ways, sport bags, umbrellas, training jackets, etc.) so this may be better suited than standard PS or PU flexes I wonder?

Never found anything suitable thought the Siser sounds interesting. Problem with workclothing is that it is sometimes washed at 60 degs.
I have heard that you could try preparing the print area by lightly rubbing it down with paint solvent before printing. Dont breath in though......
