Printing on to plates - advice please.

Hi Everyone...I am new to the heat transfer process and to the forum as well.
I have a plate press and I would really like to print onto plates and in particular antique ones....
Has anyone much experience of this? I understand that the plates need to have a polyester coating..One that exists already or one that you can apply.
I would not be doing them as runs...more as one offs that can be used or just displayed.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
