Sub inks / Printer / iPhone cases

Hello newbie here. Two quick questions i need help with. I've recently bought some blank iPhone 4s cases with the metal inserts, the ones were you heat press the metal inserts and stick them on the back of the blank iPhone case. After some research I discovered the pictures you print of to press onto the metal inserts have to be 121mm x 64mm (around about that anyway). My first question is, does anyone know what pixels the 121mm x 64mm picture should be ? I'm looking for colorful backgrounds on Google images to go with my designs and it would be so much easier if i new what pixels the picture should be because then i could just search for images by the precise pixels it should be

My second question is, I've converted my Epson S22 printer to print out sub inks onto sub paper but for some reason my printer up to know is only printing out in black inks. If i try and print out a color pic its comes out printed in black ink only. Am i doing something wrong or have i forgotten something, I'm using CorelDRAW x6 if that helps

I take it you would be using royalty free images from Google. You could end up in a whole heap of trouble if you take any image and print and sell it due to copyright restrictions.

Question 2 has already been answered and is something you will find happen a lot unless you print everyday minimum.

Thanks for your reply, i can resize it but sometimes the picture looks warped due to being to small to begin with before I've resized it. But I've sorted that now mate

Thanks for your reply, yes i was going to type in royalty free backgrounds then just Google image the search. I see a lot of sellers on eBay selling iPhone cases with things on the back like, One Direction and Nike and Call of Duty etc, have all of them been given permission to sell them or do they just do it

Most images are described as a certain number of dots per inch or (dpi). Most images for reproduction on sublimated items should really be at least 200 dpi for smaller items and 300 dpi for medium sized items.

So for 121mm (4.75") x 64mm (2.5") you are looking for an image of 950 pixels x 500 pixels (@200 dpi) or 1425 pixels x 750 pixels (@300 dpi). However as Paul has said before it is best if you get the largest quality image you can and resize using graphics software to the size and dpi you require. A good starting point is to look for free software such as Irfanview http://www.irfanview.com that allows you to view and resize images.

I would imagine that most people who are selling the likes of one direction covers on ebay are doing so illegally, it really depends on where they have got the image from and what they use in terms of fonts etc.

Anyone can put a picture on 1D on an iphone case as long as they own the rights to the image. This may be some sort of composite purchased from a third party. If however they put the 1D logo on as well then they are breaking the law as this belongs to 1D and is licensed. I work with the merchandisers for 1D so I know that they have not licensed it to anyone selling on ebay.

I also know that they monitor every item so will eventually catch up with every single seller, and that is when a whole heap of trouble will land on their desks.
