If you are looking for something that does Tees previews, there is openshirts which runs on OpenCart.... not sure if it would work for other products but you are abe to upload your images and then have the customer add his own txt and stuff to preview on-the-fly!......

This is their forum... cant remember where the download is.... also... it takes a lot to upload all your images for the different colour tees and things.... might be useful to tee designers here.

Its gone to the production stage when funds runed out lol
so i am waiting for bit more money to finish it off or need to find a sponsor. but its not easy.... as i dont want to sell it for millions. i wish to have it available for every one and for every ones pocket...
its simple but very elegant and slick.
mugs coasters, mouse mats etc... Only mugs will be animated as this is most importans. rest of them will be only still mockups but very elegant and slick so customers could see they item before they buy...
I was also planing to implement phone cases but cost would be much higher and also cases come to fashion and go as soon as new version of phone will pop in to the market. so decided not to do that for phones.

Would you be able to make the software as a basic app Paul with added extras to purchase as mods?

The basic one has t-shirts and mugs then you buy the separate mods for iphone cases, mouse-mats etc ....................... how long have you been working on this then buddy? (are you using c++ or java (or something else) as the programming language or something else?)

this will be made in flash so you will be able to use it easy on your web site.

I am getting there just need few more £££ and soon you lot will have it for test drive

I menaged to get some loan sorted and this app is in making progress

This simple app will let your customers see they picture how it look like on real mug before they buy it!
Another benefit oftha will be that less crap pictures from mobile phones will b sent to you when ppl notice how bad it look on themug an i bet you have em loads like that
