Re: Epson B1100 issues....

Post by acetees »

I'm finding I seem to have a lot of issues with my printer, I'm using a CISS system on a B1100.

Today I printed a full colour a3 sheet and got significant blurring in the middle of the page, after previously printing fine.

I ran a head alignment and half way through it told me I was out of ink when I'm clearly not. I then had to reset the carts and charge the heads again and it was printing nothing at all. I then had to run 3-4 head cleans before I can start printing again. Is this normal?

Also every now and again the print head crashes into the side of the printer as a clear plastic ribbon that runs through the print head comes loose inside the printer so I have to re-attach it.

I seem to have something like this happen every couple of days, normally in the middle of a print job. If I've left the printer for a few days it's normally fine when I come back to it.

Lastly - the icc profile that someone from sawgrass installed for me really doesn't look good. I printed a vibrant bright red to put on a phone case and when pressed it came out pink. I'm getting a much better colour from using Adobe RGB (1998) profile although there is a bit too much magenta in there so my greys are a bit purpley, but I don't know how to solve this?

I think this question should be directed to your suppliers or sawgrass.
If there is any troubles with ciss or printer they should swap it fir you.

I used to use b1100 and was happy with it but in did thereas some head cleaning involved every now and then.

It would be worth starting here (http://www.sawgrasseurope.com/technical ... winprofile) to check you have the profile installed correctly in your software.

Possibly, but I think something has been changed as mention is made of Adobe RGB (1998). Worth double checking all settings.

I think we can safely assume that.

Yep, I'm using artanium ink and ciss printer and package I bought from Martin. For the life of me I couldn't install the ICC from the website, sawgrass tech took over my machine remotely and they couldn't do it the right way either so he sent me the profile direct and installed it. It really doesn't give a good colour. The adobe one is ok, I can only tell when I try to print a light grey that it has a purpley tinge, but I've started doing some work for a pro photographer and he picked up on it immediately.

I'm sat here now printing some stuff and it just stopped half way through a print and said it didn't recognise the ink cartridges, I pressed the reset button and it carried on printing but has left a lighter strip down the middle of my print. I don't know if this is the usual frustrations I should expect with this budget set up?

No you shouldn't expect that and it isn't a budget set-up.

Thanks - I gathered the kit had been bought from us from a post elsewhere, but the username acetees doesn't help me identify the real person who you are :)

I would:
(a) double check the settings are correct as per the link I sent you - this will confirm the profile and the printer driver settings are correct. If not then amend them to how the screen shots show them for the specific software package you are using.
(b) Ensure the cartridges are FIRMLY inserted. You'll need to use pressure at the front and back of each of the cartridges to ensure they click into place and are correctly inserted. If not then the cartridge block can move, introducing air into the system and then problems start with numerous head cleans. These have to be FIRMLY and FULLY clicked into place.

Depending on what has happened, you may need to reprime the system (details on our Sublimation Advanced FAQ's on our website) which talks about re-priming.

If all this is done and a good nozzle check pattern is shown then you should be fine getting a decent print to paper and in turn a decent image to substrate.
