What can i use inkjet transfer paper and durabrite inks on?
Re: What can i use inkjet transfer paper and durabrite inks on?
What sort of coasters and jigsaws and anything else would i be able to use inkjet transfer paper and durabrite inks on?
I have seen
mousemat like ones
fibre
cardboard
hardboard
compressed
would they all work using this or would i have to use sublimation inks? Bit confused here.

Vicki, you would need to use both sunlimation ink & sublimation transfer paper.
Re: What can i use inkjet transfer paper and durabrite inks on?
yolo say this -
Suitable for t-shirts, sweatshirts, mousepads, coasters, puzzles, leather goods and this Designed for inkjet printers only and suitable for pigment, dye based and sublimation inks
for their inkjet paper and i have done mousemats with good result, so am confused even more now.

So just the mouse mat type ones then?
Re: What can i use inkjet transfer paper and durabrite inks on?
Vicki, I can't find this inkjet transfer paper on the Yolo website. The inkjet paper would work ok on canvas topped mouse mats but, or anything else canvas topped but, it wouldn't work on hard substrates such as puzzles.viccar;57718 wrote:yolo say this -

http://www.yolo.co.uk/yol-inkjet-316-p.asp hope this is ok to post links.
This is what gave me the idea, and i made a mouse mat for a xmas pressie (i know starting early) and wondered what else i could do.

Re: What can i use inkjet transfer paper and durabrite inks on?
Thanks Vicki, & I can now see where the confusion is. I think the first line of the features says it all really which is 'For use on white or light coloured cotton or poly blend fabric'. This would really restrict you in what you wanted to produce to be honest.
I think I can safely say most of us who do dye sublimation products such as coasters & jigsaw puzzles use the hardboard type etc. If you wanted to do many more products you really do need to look at going down the dye sublimation route. It really does depend on where you want to go with your products & what you want to produce.

Vicki, the Ricoh printers are used by quite a few members & the vast majority of them wouldn't use anything else now. The ink does sound very expensive at first but, it does work out quite cheaply per print in the end. If I was new to dye sublimation I would go for the Ricoh to be honest as it something called Power Driver which makes printing that much easier for you.viccar;57750 wrote:Thank you, i see now, i think i need to do a lot more readingand stop trying to run before i can walk or toddle.

If you have a read of this http://www.dyesubforum.co.uk/vbforum/sh ... ch-Printer it should explain things a lot more about which printer to use.
I always say starting out in this business is like learning to ride a bike, you'll wobble a lot & fall off a few times but, once you get the hang of it it is pretty easy.
