Re: Ricoh SG3110DN Black and White image problem

Post by just4yougifts »

Its still early days on our new Ricoh SG3110DN printer. We did a black and white image print and the image came with weird very thin black lines on the lighter parts, like altitude lines on a map really. Colour images look fine still.

Any suggestions? Should we do a flush or nozzle clean like and the old Epson 1400 yet?

thanks

Is it the image or the printer? I'd try another b&w image first and see if the same happens. There is a nozzle clean feature in the maintenance menu on the control panel on the printer if this is still a prob. Are you printing from PowerDriver?

I have tried another black and white image and the same problem occurs, performed a nozzle clean which looks clear, yes using the power driver. Has anyone else experienced this type of problem that you have come across. I am using paint shop pro software

Have you tried changing the Powerdriver to grayscale or trying it on the colour setting if you have tried it on greyscale? Some printers print black with the other colours also so have you cleaned all heads?

Hi there yes I have tried greyscale and colour print and same result unfortunately. Its's a brand new printer as well! I carried out a nozzle test and all looked well so don't think a head clean would help? Thanks for trying to help can you think of anything else?

I would suggest you create an image from scratch - just a black square or circle on a white background and see if that prints fine. If it does then the issue maybe with your existing images. If however that prints badly then I might suggest you uninstall the printer and powerdrivers and reinstall making sure you do them in the correct order and see if that helps. I am sure I read recently that this had cured an issue with print quality that another user was experiencing and I think it related to a powerdriver issue (I suggest you visit Sawgrass site to make sure you download the latest drivers)

Maybe worth reading this thread:

as an uninstall and re-install fixed the issues they had.

I re-installed from scratch. The B&W image still wasnt printing correctly - it isnt pure back and white, alot of grey really. I also tried a sepia print too and that was ok and a pure B&W mix of squares was fine too.

The Ricoh printer's for sublimation doesnt support Coral Paint Shop Pro. I asked tech support before and they said its not to worry if they print ok. ( which colour images look fine ) There are some changes to make for other supported software tools but like I said PSP isnt supported. Anybody heard of this issue?

Has anyone heard of any Ricoh 3110 printer and B&W issues before? Our old Epson 1400 printer didnt have any problems like this.

Also, is is correct for the PowerDriver printer driver to install on SG_Local_2 which is a local port? Rather than a USB port that is normally used.

thanks

A lot of the issues occur as you have to install the Ricoh driver first (from the Ricoh site) and then the Powerdriver (from the Sawgrass site). If you do not follow the instructions to the letter then the results can be less than ideal.

I would definitely download the latest drivers from the web and not use those supplied on the installation disk.

RPCS drivers to install first here: Ricoh_Site

Powerdriver to install from here: Sawgrass_Site

Follow these instructions: Sawgrass_Site
