Re: Mug Image Position

Post by Fordy »

Hi,

I've been given an image which is not wide enough to wrap around a mug properly, but it is too big to double the picture up so it appears on both sides.
So I was wondering would you put the image in the center of the mug (parrallel to the handle) or over to one of the sides?

Usually I would ask the customer, but if the customer had given you no particular preference then what would you do?

Obviously theres no definitive answer to this and I suppose you could get away with either I just wondered if there was a norm when it came to this kind of thing.

Heres some pictures of the image and positioning to help explain better

I'd do this front and back, why don't you think it would fit?

I use a 539x255px canvas to put the images on (anything wider and I get faded edges) so to double the image up on this size canvas I'd have to lower the height too much.

Image centralised opp the handle, and some text either side of the image to fill the space up to the handle?

Personally I would center it. But if I could, I would clarify with the customer before printing.

Sorry I use 10oz mugs.

Thanks for the advice, it seems going down the center is the general consensus. Adding text would be a good idea but I'm not sure if they want text. I'll confirm it with the customer before printing anyway.

Sorry, I thought we were assuming customer gave no instructions, we could come up with 100 different ideas if you want! :-)
