I would say its more like
70% Knowledge
20% Blanks
10% gear
My basis is because as Charlie says, his cheap stuff is producing sweet results and I suspect that is down to his learning and knowledge base. I have had conversations about cheap versus expensive with many people. As an example I have a Ricoh 7000 and will never consider anything else even though it cost over £700 new, its been brilliant. But for heat transfers I refuse to pay £500 +VAT for a recommended laser printer from The Magic Touch. Instead I purchased a £99.00 cheapie from PC World which has printed about 4000 prints so far without any hassle. Even if it went wrong tomorrow I could throw it away, buy another one and still be in pocket £300. If this happened 5 times then admittedly it would end up costing more than a TMT one. But by then I would have printed in excess of 20,000 heat transfers so I wouldn't care about the money
20% blanks I think is being a bit generous as I do not think there are many hidden secrets these days on items. Personally I would cut this to 10% and add another section which would be 10% contacts

One massive improvement was using mugs from BMS rather than from eBay, I think that made more difference than anything else!
