You could always come to me :-)

I have a Roland Print & Cut machine and have tee shirt transfer material. All you need to supply is the image in the various colours you require and with a cut line and I can print and dispatch for you.

I have no experience of print & cut machines so please excuse my ignorance, but is the final result a transfer as opposed to printable vinyl? Also, is it just as hardwearing as hot flex vinyl as I need to do around 60 garments for a local club? The design is in sections rather than a one piece design, (similar to a stencil), so parts of the t-shirt need to show.

No, print and cut machines like mine use vinyl. The only major difference is that I only purchase white vinyl which is then printed before being cut. At the moment I only carry one vinyl which can be found here http://www.grafityp.co.uk/textile-print ... Print.html the printer has been so busy with canvas frames and stickers that I have not had the chance to get stock of the other vinyls.

Essentially the weeding would be the same as if you were cutting coloured vinyl. So if you need part of the garment showing through then you would have to weed that part out (like the middle of the letter "O" for example. You would also need some transfer film such as TTD Evolution which presumably you need for coloured vinyl anyway.

If you would like a test then PM me your details and I am sure I can rustle up something.

There are a couple of other things to note:

First, I can print metallic and pearlescent colours. I have never tried this on textile vinyl but as long as the heat pressing is right I do not see it being a problem

Secondly, although I am not an advertiser on here, I will give a 10% discount on prices for premium members. This is because I love the forum and try to help Justin as much as I can and if I can :-)

Ah thanks for explaining. I wonder how cost effective it would be for me to do it that way as opposed to coloured vinyl as I'll probably need around 60 large and 60 small prints...I'll PM you.

Hi Simon, a generous offer indeed. Now how can someone like me get an idea of the prices? Do you have a trade website or a price list?

Regards,

Richard

Hi WDR

Prices for heat transfer material to trade is £12.00 per meter or £10.00 per meter if you are a premium member. The width of the roll is 484mm. I can either invoice plus VAT or without, don't really mind either way. Delivery is £6.00 per consignment.

Printable vinyl is not cheap as is really designed for the more intricate designs that have many colours or linear blends (football crests for example). The machine prints the design then rolls back and cuts out the shape that I have given it to cut. The roll is £4.84 per meter so I am not here to make a killing but really to give back something from the knowledge and suppliers that I have gained from being a member (I reckon that I have saved in excess of 10k over the year just by reading this forum, using recommened suppliers and avoiding kit that is useless!)

Files need to be supplied as CDR or EPS format with the cut line as a seperate line in an obvious single colour (100% magenta for example). I have attached an image to give you an idea.

You will need transfer film (something like the Evolution stuff from Grafitype) to enable you to transfer the printed item to your garment. I will test the cut to make sure that you can weed it easily, but I will not weed the entire job for the above price, was it you who had to weed 5000+ pieces recently :-)

Guideline transfer time is 150 degrees at 15 seconds medium pressure. Needless to say that each press is different.

If anyone is interested the PM me your address and over the weekend I will print out something and post it off for anyone to test.

I will be getting some printable flock and possibly some other materials as soon as I get chance to sit down and test. Personally I think the flock on baseball style caps could be good.
