transfer tape

I am using a silhouette cameo and was wondering Does anyone have any opinions on transfer tape i.e the best place to get it from and if here i something specific i should look for.

Well what type of item are you trying to transfer? If you mean sign vinyl then you use a different tape than to say transfer rhinestone from a template.

If it is sign vinyl then you have to consider the following choices. Whether you require a clear or a paper application tape, clear is easier to see where your vinyl is but the paper is often cheaper and you can mark the paper with positioning marks more easily.

Once you have the type of paper then you need to work out how wide you need it to be. If you are only trying to move small sections of vinyl then 6" or 9" wide tape my be suitable. Finally you need to decide how sticky your application paper needs to be. Obviously it is designed to come off the vinyl once the vinyl is stuck down so if the tape has stronger glue than the vinyl it wont come off cleanly and if too weak it wont hold the vinyl whilst you pull the backing sheet off.

So a safe compromise is medium tack, paper in a width of your choice.

Sorry Worth my original post first thing this morning was quite useless when i read it back lol, It i rhinestones to start with didnt know if anyone had any opinions on this and best to get it etc. Thanks

Well rhinestone tape is a whole different product. It is a mylar tape and you could try buying it from here:

or from eBay.

I have found that there are really 2 qualities of this tape in circulation, a good quality one where once applied to your rhinestones you can re-attach to the backing sheet easily and it stays stuck together and the cheaper stuff that once attached to rhinestones seems to not want to stick back to the backing sheet. This second type is ok if you are doing the transfers for yourself but not so good if you wish to send then out to clients to stick on. The link I have sent you is for the better quality tape which is not that much more expensive than the cheaper stuff.
