Slates GRRRRRR!

Read all the post, thought there is a good little scout, and still not right!
Using Slate from BMS, Ricoh printer, and 1mm silicon sheet.

So preheat press
Preheat Silicon sheet at same time
Place slate in for about a minute to heat
Add image and wrap
Cook for 9 minutes at 190
AND GRRRRR!

You can clearly see the arcs where it went wrong.

Now I think not enough pre heat in the slate and/or 200 degrees called for, but what do the gathered minds think?

if you use silicon sheet try 210C

The 'swirl/ arc' I think is down to the paper which was heavy with ink during pressing. Did you have firm pressure or lightish pressure and was the slate positioned squarely in the press (not to one side)?

Hi Martin
The slate was in the middle of the press, pressure more towards heavy than medium. Paper was Trupix classic, Press is the 38*38 flat bed from yourself. Hope that helps.

Presumably this arc was evident on the paper as well. It sounds to me as though something has caused the paper to warp in the heat before the press was engaged locking it down tight.

I had similar looking slates when pressed for not hot enough.

Where it worked on the slate the image is stunning.
I taped it tight as well.
I'll order some more tomorrow, I'll probably need some wooden boxes as well.

Ah, I wonder if the taping caused the problem as the paper might not have been able to spread freely and so buckled in the heat.

So wrap but not stick. Or don't wrap?
