Re: Screen printing equipment
I opened the box and thought what is it I have actually bought lol - pieces of wood here and there and some red material. To say that I havent a clue is not underestimating my true screen printing knowledge. It has however made me realise that perhaps we should work on a guides section for the forum with perhaps a few basic guides on how to do certain things (and a few pointers to avoid issues)gavtheoldskater;53156 wrote:wdr if you want and screenprinting advice feel free to drop me a line. i've been screening for a year now and have had plenty of tearing my hair out and utter joy so can poss save you some frustration.

That's why some of us took 4 years to train to become a fully skilled screen printer.WorthDoingRight;53197 wrote:I opened the box and thought what is it I have actually bought lol - pieces of wood here and there and some red material. Re: Screen printing equipment
It probably seems to many that screen printing is a bit of a dinosaur (e.g. not produced digitally), but I quite like the idea of the hands on craft approach.Ian M;53235 wrote:That's why some of us took 4 years to train to become a fully skilled screen printer.
My family has spent 45 years trying to train me to become a fully skilled human - sorry to say they need a lot more time lol
For my sins however my family used to own a printing business and this was sold when my mother retired almost 15 years ago. I myself trained in the legal profession (although did help the family in the business) and still work 9 to 5 in a thriving legal practice in Birmingham and dabble with printing and pcs in my spare time. I find it quite therapeutic designing and printing items and one day might decide to give it a go full time.

Re: Screen printing equipment
Hi WDR the box and contents does look a bit of miss match i know, but all is there, the Red silk is for making your screens mate, and there is enough there to make tons of them lol
I only made a few screen that are easy to make yourself, the pieces of wood make up the light table as it wouldn't fit in the box so i took the nails out of it.
Just a quick note of caution make sure you keep all the inks ect in the box and away from light.
Good thing mentioned about if there was some information on the site in regards screen printing, as when you get into it, it does become a bit addictive, if i manage to find the see though sheets (cant remember the name of them) i`ll send them to you as i only used a few.

Re: Screen printing equipment
Well sometime later this afternoon I am going to unpackage the parcel and see what is in the box - I am sure it will all make some sense (I hope). If anyone has helpful hints or bits and bobs lying unused at home or work then feel free to let me know.Images Studio;53390 wrote:Hi WDR the box and contents does look a bit of miss match i know, but all is there, the Red silk is for making your screens mate, and there is enough there to make tons of them lol

Re: Screen printing equipment
Didn't realise that you made the screens yourself out of red silk, is it hard? Don't you need a special measuring device called a nucrometer or newtonometer or something?Images Studio;53390 wrote:Hi WDR the box and contents does look a bit of miss match i know, but all is there, the Red silk is for making your screens mate, and there is enough there to make tons of them lol
I thought the mesh was used for making screens, shows what I know
