I always back up and sync to an external drive and also now onto Dropbox. You think you have every angle covered and something catches you out. I managed to lose my data, back up data and yet another backup a few years back....what a bloody nightmare. I got 99% of it back but things were never the same as the recovery renamed every file. Here's a tip that works in this situation....location, location, location...back up to 3 locations! Having backup presses really is ideal wherever possible and a second printer needn't cost the earth either :-)

Well I do infact save almost all my working files to the free skydrive service. It allows me plenty of free storage for my working files, lets me access them from any PC with internet access and via my android phone. I do have 3 active PCs in my setup so it is nice to be able to just change seat and print/cut etc from any.

Well you can choose to make folders you create private or public - I am sure the default when you create a new folder on Skydrive is private. So create a folder called Work and upload to there.

What kind of privacy/security is there for SkyDrive? Everything I've read said that data is only encrypted in transit, and is not when on their servers.

Whether it's true or not, anyone using the cloud to store their files should consider their own encryption prior to sending the files to the cloud. It only takes one accident by some careless person to leave your files exposed and if those files include customer data, you could end up in trouble.
