Hi Guys,

Been searching the internet for a few days now and come across this friendly forum which i have already learned alot from so thank you.

I am currently working for a online business (nothing to do with Printing, its fishing baits to be exact lol) we recently started selling merch. t-shirts, hoodies etc. our next thing on our list was Mugs. We have spent a few grand on getting these products from a print company so it just made me think maybe i could just print the mugs ourself (as i design all the artwork we send to the printers and after the quote we got). So that way i could just print and press when ordered instead of ordering a massive bulk to get the right price.

So i will be using this forum to get some help, as i am very keen to get into the mug pressing business not just for my website but also on the side line for friends and family.

I have noticed on the internet the inks are about £50+ each how many prints when you get out of this for a full wrap?

I currently haven't brought any items to start mug pressing just researching at the moment so any help and recommendations for places to get the press, printer inks etc. is much appreciated.

Thanks again. I look forward to being a part of this forum.

Hi there and welcome to the forum :-)

You'll find a wealth of knowledge on here already with regards to presses, printers and so on.

Typically a mug might cost 25p to print (seems to have been mentioned recently) so don't get too hung up on how many prints you'll get, always plenty of room for profit :-) Someone else may give you more precise figures etc.

Welcome to the forum :) Justin's about right but clearly the cost depends hugely on how much ink is going onto each mug - it could be a lot less. A good quality mug plus the cost of ink and paper shouldn't be much different to £1.50. As you're just down the road in Portsmouth then we aren't that far away from you if you wanted to pop over and see the process, printers etc

Welcome Mossy.....I can highly recommend going to see Martin at BMS. I did and it was well worth the drive from Wiltshire. Good luck.

Hi RogerC i seen a lot of recommendation for BMS so i very keen too if i can get round to it, the business start up pack on there site looks like the thing for me too.

Hi Charlie, this what started my interest in doing it myself, as we would like to print photos people send in of fish they have caught on our baits. Which will be one offs and to get the right price with printing company you have to buy large amounts. We also wanted to do a collection of mugs with several species of fish which customers could collect but we would have to pay set up costs for each ones then large amounts of each one.

Hi I bought a mugpress kit off BMS, have to say it was a smart move - cost effective and instant startup!
